Elixir

Hue and cry
Echoing everywhere;
Anger, Rage, Accusations, Fury;
Reflecting here and there;
Hours will pass,
Then days,
And so will years;
Hands that sabotaged her,
Will find more venues;
Voices that were raised,
Will thunder again and again
For a reason
Not hers;
Faces with silent eyes
Will be blessed with scenes anew;
Their hands glued to their sides,
The men will stand;
Is there a dearth
For an incident here?
My own words
Would sing a different tune;
Her story would diminish
From  pages elaborate,
To lines miniscule;
And finally,
Nothingness!
Only the hurt,
The pain,
The insult,
Will remain;
Scars outside would slowly fade;
The ones within
Will remain etched
Burning her insides;
Plunging her
Into An Abyss, deep;
Is there an elixir somewhere
To eraze; to demolish
The ruthless,
Indelible agony?
She has to find it within
And rise as a phoenix
From its ashes.

    1. Thank you so much FIF :) Yes, all would stop talking about it after some time like every other news in the media! Only she will know the real pain.

  3. Very beautiful and poignant post. We can't even imagine what she went through and what she is going through right now. Each and everyone of those rapists should die a slow painful death, every moment of their pathetic lives.

    From its ashes......is indeed what is needed .Women are not weak they a strong beyond imagination.The media with all these news only project women as a weak being waiting for justice.This never did any good to the women.Instead we must speak of strength and women.
    Women are infinite they are divine..
    bcoz of them whole of Humanity shine....

    a women can be her own Elixir , she is divine no threats can subdue her..
    your poetry captured the very essence of women's might and their struggle , grt work :)

    1. Hi Saikat

      Yes, thats what I also feel.

      No amount of strength from outside can equal the feeling one gets from inside.

      When someone gets attacked by some goons, it is not talked about as much as when a woman gets molested. Thats because of the mental agony she has to undergo. But by going on talking about justice she is being made an object of weakness waiting for someone to save her. Her best way of fighting would be carrying on this life and not let the memories of the incident rule her life.

  8. we can only talk and then point finger at others for doing the same. even in blogsphere, we have bloggers who wait for such things to happen so that they can write about it because they need to write a post on social issues every alternate day. exactly two days and it's done, next issue or a humor port or a cartoon. and most of them write without knowing the facts. in this case, many people were involved and things are slowly coming out. the only truth is that the girl had to go through hell and she is still going through it.

    1. Hi Debajyoti
      Thats what I meant when I said 'My own words would sing a different tune'. We in the blogosphere will also have other issues to talk about. What I am trying to say is that she has to derive strength from the inside and try to move on. She cannot let her life get ruined because a few insane idiots tried to control her for 30 mins. And everyone should help her to do that. That would help her more than spreading information about the the incident.

  9. i just hope the girl leaves all this behind and leads a normal life. I just pray to god to give her strength.

  10. Healing always has to happen on the inside! Too many people wounded from things in the past! Well written!

    1. Thanks Danny . most of us continue to wound ourselves repeatedly by clinging on to the past. Her wounds are of a different nature and massive, but she should not let herself get subdued.

  12. It's such a different take on the plight of the poor girl...It's so difficult to move past these things esp. when one has got so much attention from the media...Hopefully, she will be able to heal...

    1. Right Divya. All the attention from the media, I dont know if its helping her or poking her wounds further.

  13. And rise, she will -- from those ashes. Time is a healer, thankfully.
    Nice to see you try some poetry. You really can convey a lot in verse, right? :). Good job.

    1. Thank u. I dont try poetry very often especially after seeing the awesome poets on Indiblogger.:) Time is indeed a healer and we should let him heal. An adversary hurts us once. Letting the memories rule us is something in our control.Easier said than done but I think thats how one should deal with it.

  16. I can't imagine her trauma, and then with the whole world watching over and over. Sometimes the rabid rubble rousers end up doing more damage.

  17. The scars of the trauma remain and hope she does rise once more like a phoenix! Lovely writing Jaishree:)

    1. Hi Indu

      Thanks for stepping in. In this case they happened to be exposed. What about those many men who continue to terrorize women all over the country and never get caught? Its not only these fellows one needs to point at. Those who stood meekly and witnessed are also at fault. Its the sorry state of affairs in the country that we must be ashamed of.

  19. Indeed one day she will rise above for sure ... Lets hope this doesnot get repeated and the people are brought to justice Sooner rather than later

  22. That was just painfully brilliant. I was able to feel the angst and anger in your words. You wrote it with so much emotion and with such great resolve and power. There is a deep undercurrent in your words that asks the burning question for which our society doesn’t have an answer. And it will not, until it is a mere spectator to such ghastly acts!

    ReplyDelete

    1. One cannot control what others do to us beyond a point. One can also not control the way the spectators react. What one can control is how we let our circumstances take control of ourselves and our lives. Its upto us to fight back and look at everyone straight in theeye. This is what I want to tell all women suffering due to such barbaric acts.
