Quesadilla and quiet mornings

I first tasted Mexican food during my stay in the US way back in 2005. I took an instant liking to the chewy texture of the tortillas and everything made with them like burritos and quesadillas. I have fond memories of our team visits to places like Chipotle for lunch. I used to stare at the giant tortilla presses and the way they operated with wide eyed amazement!

After the initial mentions of the word as ka-say-dil-la , I have come to know that the l s in Quesadilla are silent . Have you ever wondered what is the use of these silent letters in English? Like why do we need a b in doubt ?

I also love making tomato salsa and guacamole at home and enjoying a packet of tortilla chips dipped into them. At the movies, a pack of Nachos with cheese would be my preferred choice.

Another thing that comes to mind when i think of Mexico are the colorful sombreros. I dont own one but they look colorful and beautiful in photos.

If any of you have suggestions for vegetarian fillings for a quesadilla i would love to hear!

Have you tried Mexican food before ? What is your favorite ?

Food for thought:

I dont have any Tamil sayings for Q. Today I thought I will post a picture of my favorite cozy spot at home. We got the rocking chair when i was pregnant with my daughter 8 years ago!

I love sitting there especially in Quiet mornings when the first rays of the rising sun fall on my face.

I found a few quotes  when i searched Google on quiet and silence  and the following seemed impactful!

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear - Rumi

Saying nothing sometimes says the most - Emily Dickinson

Silence is true wisdom's best reply - Euripedes

  4. Not a great fan of Mexican food.. actually thats more because we dont have many mexican food outlets here and I am a reluctant cook!! Totally agree with this quote "Saying nothing sometimes says the most by Emily Dickinson" by its so difficult to say nothing! Stopping by via the AtoZ master list. Good going!!

  5. Hi Jayashree! I like Mexican food, and have had vegetarian quesadillas. Really, you can have them with beans and such.

I do have a sombrero which I bought here. I haven’t worn it in a while, but used to wear it with a a poncho.

  6. I do enjoy Mexican food - I didn't used to, but these days I like to cook it every now and then. Have to admit I don't cook it from scratch all the time, there are some great kits that make it so much easier. Do have a yummy recipe for chicken and black bean soup though, which I make in my Instant pot.
Nachos are so good too, although with so much cheese and soured cream, I don't make them often because of the amount of calories 😉

  7. I like your rocking chair spot. What floor do you live on, the building looks very tall?
Mexican food, yum! And so versatile. You may make veggie quesadillas with bell peppers, red onion, sweet corn, black beans and jalapeños.
Or you go for a "Mediterranean" version: zucchini, eggplants, garbanzo beans and roasted or sun dried tomatoes.

  8. I love Mexican food, and I like simple crispy raw veggies in my quesidilla. Onions and peppers offer perfect crunch amidst the gooey cheese.

Your room is lovely, and I can imagine how sitting in that rocker welcoming the morning sun is a truly serene and beautiful energy to invite into all of your day.

  10. The thing I like about quesadilla's is they are so easy to make. I used to make them for my children in a frying pan over low flame. I like grilled onions and peppers in mine as well as different salsas.
Several of my friends from Mexico have taught me some easy things to make.

  11. Quesedilla is a spanish word, not English. The double ll is pronounced like a y and I always thought the s was pronounced. to make sure, I just googled pronounciation and they said "kay·suh·dee·uh"

Cheese is a traditional filling, not sure if that would work for you. And you can put vegetables in too.

  12. When it comes to Mexican food I'm surrounded by it. The part of Los Angeles county where I live is probably about 80 to 90% Mexican so we've got plenty of Mexican food in the form of restaurants, street vendors, and specialized markets. So, yes, we eat lots of Mexican food. Just last night I used tortillas left over from my wife's lunch that we bought at a Pollo Loco restaurant chain store near us and I made quesadillas with them. Quesadillas are often a go to for me when I want something quick and easy to make. I almost always just have quesadillas with cheese and maybe salsa, but they make them with all sorts of meat or veggie fillings.
